Kangaroo push/pull toy in carved and polished birch plywood

by Mike Screen
(UK)

The kangaroo toy uses a simple eccentric cam wheel and a follower located between the wheels and lower torso to drive the tail and head up and down.

The head itself is pegged to the head/tail lever and rocks beautifully with the motion generated by the cam wheel.

The legs mimic the jumping action by being pinned offset to the wheels geometric centre.

Thanks again for sharing another toy you made
by: Tony

Another fantastic toy!

As I have said in another comment, it reminds me of toys made and designed by David Wakefiled.

I have a copy of one of his first books "How To Make Animated Toys" published by Popular Science.

If do search for the term David Wakefield wooden toys you will find quite a bit of information.

Once again, thanks for sharing, and I hope it inspires more people to make something.

Regards, Tony Slattery
